Small joys of adult life
The simplicity of life is something that has always held a certain charm for me. Living a simple, organized life is my main goal.
I don't want expensive trips, an apartment in Balneário Camboriú (a fancy seaside city in Santa Catarina where Neymar Jr. owns a penthouse) or on Avenida Paulista (our brazilian version of NY's 5th avenue). I just want to be able to wake up every day in good health, have a delicious breakfast, and have enough money to live without major worries.
Some things in life that make me extremely happy cost very little or practically nothing. I will list them here:
- Warm bread in the morning with strong coffee;
- Being able to read first thing in the morning, before even leaving for work;
- Fresh rice with small cubes of carrot, well-seasoned beans, and fried eggs;
- Sleeping in the afternoon;
- Making coffee in the morning using a cloth filter;
- Listening to a Bossa Nova album in the late afternoon, when the sun is almost gone and there is that golden light in the room (it's rare that I get to do this);
- Spending the morning at the beach, coming home, having lunch, and spending the afternoon watching movies;
- Going for walks;
- Having a delicious coffee in charming coffee shops;
- Drinking a glass of wine while working at home;
- Baking bread (I'm not very good at it yet, but I'm improving).
In times when we are all striving for prosperity, health, and well-being, these “little joys of adulthood,” as a very famous rap singer from Brazil called Emicida says, help me connect with my true essence and remember that happiness is easy.
